Hi Marc,

According to Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/656 amending AFIR (Reg. 2023/1804) (see Annex II points 2.1.1 and 2.1.2) it is stated that:

For all newly installed or renovated publicly accessible AC & DC charge points, compliance with EN ISO 15118-1/-2/-3/-4/-5 applies from 8 January 2026.

Perhaps you could mention that in your article, since all the newly installed AC and DC EVSEs must be equipped with HPGP and functional ISO15118 from Jan. 2026. This is less than 2 months time.

Very good point, Andreas, I forgot to mention that. Will update the article. Thanks for pointing this out!

😁 During Polish konferencje (KMN) in 2023 I used this same qoute (A.C. Clarke) in my presentation about PnC - https://photos.app.goo.gl/izde4T8qcwnzucc89 (what's a coincidence).

In 2023 we have implemented PnC on all charging station in Ekoen network in Poland.

Haha, nice coincidence!

Ekoenergetyka is a great example of an innovative HW manufacturer, early on embracing user-friendly, secure, and value-added software capabilities. Keep up the great work.

PnC is according to my understanding OPTIONAL for CPOs according to AFIR regulation. However it makes sense that ISO15118-20 is mandatory for charge point manufacturers.

Hi Volker, you're right, Plug & Charge is not explicitly required by AFIR, as I mentioned in the article. Although I think they would have done this industry (and EV drivers) a service if they had mandated Plug & Charge as well.
